I met Rocky years ago from our nights out at Kodiaks, and random gatherings with friends made from there. I’ve done photos for her and Ian over the years, and always love getting together with them. They are THE definition of chill & easy. It’s always fun, we always have a great time, and I love being able to be relaxed while working with them. I was really excited when she asked me to shoot her wedding, and was then extremely flattered when she actually moved her wedding date so that I could be the one to do it! She had initially planned to get married on July 21st, but I told her that my little sister was getting married on that Friday, the 20th, out of state so I wouldn’t be able to commit to hers. She then moved everything to the 14th so that I could be the one to photograph it! So so sweet, and I was absolutely thrilled to be able to make it.
Rocky & Ian were married at Chenoweth woods in Forestville. Ian’s mom’s house, where he grew up, is five minutes away so we started the day there. Then we headed over to Chenoweth Woods, which is the same place we shot their engagement photos. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: this place is straight out of Fern Gully! I loved that movie as a kid and love the vibes of the redwoods and plants everywhere. After the ceremony and most of the reception, we headed back to Ian’s mom’s house, so that we could get some warm, sun photos to mix in with the dark, moody redwoods. So nice to have the best of both worlds!
Here’s a fun little tidbit from their wedding day and the days leading up to it: Rocky’s best friend, Brandi, was pregnant with twins and due on Rocky’s wedding day. She ended up having them 3 weeks early, ON ROCKY’S BIRTHDAY! How cool is that? They were the youngest bridal party members I’ve ever photographed 🙂
Ian & Rock, you guys already know how much I love and adore you both! Thanks so much for having me be apart of your day. Scout and I had a blast with you guys and your families! Here are a few of my fave shots.
