NICE TO MEET YOU
My name is Danielle Joy, but you can call me DJ. To put it simply, I'm a Wife, Dog Mom, and Photographer. Pretty much in that order.
I am THE definition of a people person! I love meeting people, talking, and learning what people are really about (guess that explains why I got a BA in Psychology). I have developed amazing relationships with my clients, many of them become great friends! That’s the best part about what I do—meeting people and making connections. I love the Boston Red Sox, DOGS, caffeine, shoes, sports, concerts, traveling, and all things rose gold. I’m originally from Santa Cruz, then lived in the Central Valley in Merced for my teen years, eventually moving to Sonoma County to attend Sonoma State University. I fell in love not only with the area, but also with a man named Joe, so I’ve decided to stick around. Joe & I got married in 2016, and we enjoy camping and spending time with our black lab, Dakota.
I took photography classes in high school, but rediscovered my love for it when a friend needed some engagement photos done in 2010. I picked up a film SLR camera, went digital shortly after that, and never looked back! I was fortunate to make this my full-time job in 2016, and have never been happier.
My promises to you:
You WILL have at least a little fun during our time together. Have a man that doesn't like being in front of the camera? That's fine, mine doesn't either. I promise for it to go by quick and be painless! Almost every husband/father I've photographed leaves saying it wasn't even close to as bad as they thought it was going to be! Have kids that run around like crazy with short attention spans? Perfect, I'll fit right in with them ;) I will play with them, laugh with them, let them be silly, and their true selves.
I hope for my images to stand the test of time. There are a lot of photography trends that come and go, but I promise that my images will not be heavily doctored, "filtered", or processed. They will be crisp, clear, warm and timeless! My goal is that when you are looking back on photos of your children once they've grown, or your wedding day on your 20th anniversary, that you can remember the day as it actually was, and have that moment perfectly frozen in time. 🖤
