Casey & Jesse were married on the very first rainy day of the season, on September 29th on a private ranch in South Santa Rosa. It rained off and on all morning at my house in Windsor, and I was texting my second shooter Scout all morning to see if it was also raining where she lived in Cotati. It’s so crazy how different parts of Sonoma County can have completely different weather! When we arrived at the venue, it was at a steady drizzle. The time came after some getting ready photos to “make the call”–keep the ceremony outside, or move it inside the barn to the reception area. It was SUCH a hard decision. Casey & Jesse went back and forth, and ultimately decided to move it in side, just to be safe. I felt so bad for them, because I didn’t think it was going to end up raining anymore. Scout and I both commented that we hoped it WOULD rain during the ceremony, so that they knew they made the right decision. Fast forward an hour or so: Casey & Jesse were watering a Japanese Maple Tree during their ceremony in honor of Casey’s grandmother, and the sky opened up and it DOWNPOURED. You could hear it slamming into the walls and windows of the building, and we all breathed a breath of relief. They’d made the right call! Yay!
The rain ended up letting up and we were able to get some beautiful photos outside. Colleen’s property had so many beautiful spots, and we made sure to take advantage of them all. I have to give a big shoutout to my friend Julie, who was a guest at the wedding. Before the ceremony started she had texted me about the rain, and drove to Target and bought two umbrellas for me, just in case. You’re the real MVP, Julie! Thank you!
Casey & Jesse, I loved your love for each other, for the venue, and for trusting in the universe that the right calls would be made. Thank you for being down to hide under trees, get your wedding outfits wet, and for being absolute GEMS for Scout & I! We had an absolute blast, and I can’t wait to see you guys again in the future <3
