Cancun, Mexico Destination Wedding: JP & Valerie

I’ve done photos for Valerie, JP & their son, Owen, since Owen was only like 6 months old! So hard to believe that much time has passed.

When we met for their holiday photos this last winter, Valerie asked me if I would consider traveling to Cancun to photograph their wedding…um, no brainer! I hadn’t done a destination wedding yet, and was so excited to try it out, and to have an excuse for a mini vacation! When my husband decided he didn’t wanna go (I know, weirdo) I sent a text to all my best girlfriends and two of them decided they could make it happen! The three of us stayed at a Resort just four doors down from the Hard Rock Hotel Cancun, and had a great time together! Fast forward to wedding day:

It rained. I was bummed that morning when I woke up and opened the blinds to see rain pouring down, and winds ripping. Luckily, in Cancun, it’s a warm rain! When I got to the Hard Rock, Valerie informed me that the ceremony had to be moved inside due to the rain. I was slightly bummed, as I’m sure she was too, but she didn’t even really let on if she was. So great! She was just excited for the day ahead. I had a blast with the girls as they got ready, and enjoyed mimosas with them. I’m telling you, they treated me like part of the family! The whole day never once felt like work.

The ceremony was in a room at the Hard Rock, and they shot fireworks off at the end! Thank goodness the coordinator gave me a heads up mid-ceremony, or I might have been too shocked to capture it! LOL!

Post-ceremony we were able to head outside for some shots, as the rain had let up, and we decided we were happy the ceremony was indoors after all–it was WINDY. We still got some great shots, and shared lots of laughs (& drinks!) together. After we took photos, everyone rinsed off sand & salt, changed clothes, and headed down to dinner. Not only did I love Valerie’s wedding dress, but her “reception” dress was just gorgeous, too!

I could never thank the both of you enough for the amazing experience you offered me. Thank you for treating me like a member of your family, and letting me celebrate with you!
