A Beautiful October Wedding in Novato | JP & Anne-Marie

Some weddings feel extra special before they even begin, and JP and Anne-Marie’s day was exactly that for me. JP is the best friend of one of my best friend’s husband, so I already knew going in that this wedding would be a meaningful one. And it did not disappoint!

Their wedding took place at a charming church in Novato, CA, and we lucked out with beautiful weather—mild temperatures and just the right amount of clouds to create that soft, dreamy light photographers love. But the real magic of the day wasn’t in the scenery or the setting (as gorgeous as they were); it was in the way JP and Anne-Marie looked at each other, the way their hands naturally found one another, and the joy radiating from them every moment.

One of my favorite things about this wedding was how it felt so authentically them. JP and many of his groomsmen are passionate skateboarders, and we found a way to incorporate that into their photos—even if we had to be a little sneaky about it! The venue had strict “No Skateboarding” signs posted, but that didn’t stop us from capturing some fun, personality-filled shots. Seeing them on their boards, laughing together in their wedding attire, was such a great reflection of their friendship and the kind of people they are—laid-back, adventurous, and completely in the moment.

The reception was just as fun, filled with heartfelt toasts, plenty of laughter, and some familiar faces behind the bar! It’s always a treat when a wedding overlaps with my own circle of friends, and having one of my best friends there, along with other good friends bartending, made the night even more enjoyable. I especially loved when Anne-Marie rolled out a shot cart during the reception! I hadn’t seen anything like that before and it was such a highlight for the guests.

More than anything, what stood out about JP and Anne-Marie’s wedding was how deeply they love each other. Every detail, every exchange, every quiet moment between them spoke volumes about their connection. It was such an honor to be there to capture it all, and I’m excited to FINALLY share images from their day…over a year later. Sorry y’all, I suck at blogging but I’m trying to get better. LOL!
