Where do I even begin with this amazing day?
Suzy and Tom were both excited for their big day, and wanted to make sure it was unique to them and memorable. It was a second marriage for them both, and incorporating their grown children and making family and their heritage the center of their day. A personal friend offered their home for the ceremony and reception, and it was a gorgeous private residence. The only bad thing about the day? It was freaking HOT. I’m talkin’ hot hot. I think it reached 100* that day, and the ceremony was set up in direct sunlight with zero shade. They ended up giving parasols to all of the guests, that they luckily picked up last minute when the forecast showed rising temperatures. Their ceremony was long–and was everything they wanted it to be. They were married by Tom’s son, with his other son and Suzy’s son serving as his groomsmen. Suzy’s daughter, along with Tom’s daughter, served as her bridesmaids. The ring bearer served the rings on a tartan pillow inside of a dim sum basket–honoring both of their heritages and where they come from. Tom’s mom was in attendance, and braved the heat at 90+ years old. Everything was so memorable, so emotional, so genuine, and absolutely moving and inspiring. I could feel their love, their passion and their sincereness for one another.
After the ceremony, we were able to get a group photo of the entire family from the balcony–a group shot from the balcony was a first for me! The love and happiness was evident in everyone’s faces throughout the day. One guest even jumped into the pool in her dress to cool off! Other people sat at pools edge with their legs in, but I love the boldness of the lady who went for it. Bummed I didn’t get it on camera.
Suzy and Tom, I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: Thank you for reminding me that love is very real and very intentional. Thank you for choosing me out of all of the amazing Sonoma County Photographers to share in your day. It was an absolute honor to be apart of it, and I mean that from the bottom of my heart.
