I kept making the same joke on Ben & Katie’s big day, “This is so much fun can you guys do this a THIRD time?!”
I first met Ben and Katie a couple years ago to do their engagement photos. Then, they got pregnant! YAY! So we did a small ceremony at The Terrace Room at Lake Merritt in Oakland. I didn’t even know they had weddings at this space, and had never been there! It was a great, casual event that really showcased their love for one another. Here are some images from that day:
Fast forward to the next year after the birth of their baby boy, and we were ready to have round two: the big shebang! They got married at Glenn Ranch in Petaluma, a great place for weddings and where we also had taken their engagement pictures. EVERYONE that works at Glenn Ranch is amazing. They are so flexible, so easy going, so genuine and easy to work with. Their dog Macklin was in attendance, and there’s one picture of him coming down the aisle that I still crack up looking at every time. Katie drove up to the ceremony with her dad in an old truck, and the ceremony was gorgeous with a lot of funny moments (I love when sports rivalries get mentioned in wedding vows). The rustic charm of Glenn Ranch is something truly special, and they also take you in a side-by-side up around the property for gorgeous views during golden hour. We had so much fun in the side-by-side together, if you head over to my instagram page you can see a couple clips in my reel from their day. One of my favorite things to do when photographing wedding couples is to throw the dress or veil in the air to make it look like it’s floating or blowing in the wind. I did NOT need any assistance with that while we were out in the pastures during golden hour–it was WINDY. But, motion is one of my favorite things to photograph in general so it really made for some breathtaking shots.
Ben and Katie, thank you guys SO much for choosing me not once, not twice, but THREE times to photograph your engagement and both of your weddings. Each time with you was fun, filled with laughter, and showcasing your amazing love. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, with all of the incredible Sonoma County Photographers out there I am always grateful when people choose me to be apart of such pivotal and important life milestones. But seriously–can we do it a third time?!
