Private Tomales Wedding: Louis & Marissa

I met Marissa years and years ago at a party, and we’ve been friends on Facebook since. When she contacted me and asked me to photograph their wedding, I was so excited! I just knew it would be “my kind of day”. They were married on their family ranch and dairy in Tomales, CA. What I didn’t know, and didn’t find out until Marissa’s sister’s Maid of Honor speech, is that a few years ago Marissa raised money to re-open the dairy after they were forced to close years ago. Now she & her husband live on the same property she grew up on, that’s been in her family for years, and raise/milk/tend to cows and the dairy. So amazing! Her drive and passion for her career inspire me.

The girls got ready in Marissa & Louis’ newly renovated home, and all the guests were brought to the ceremony site via old wagon–how cool is that?! It was a little windy at the ceremony area, but that didn’t stop the love and sunshine from absolutely radiating through. Their ceremony was so intimate and personal to them, and I loved the reading of “So God Made a Farmer” because it just completely fit them and the vibe of their lifestyle. I also loved that we were able to do so many photos right there on their front porch, since the home and property mean so much to them. It truly made it unique! The reception was held in a barn on the property, and Marissa’s dad did a fabulous job getting it ready for the big event. Here are three of my favorite moments I wanted to highlight:

–Marissa’s vows. They were absolutely incredible. I can’t remember the words, but I’ll never forget the feeling I had hearing them (I know, I’m a sap).

–Paisley, Marissa & Louis’ daughter, was just absolutely adorable the ENTIRE time. There are so many photos of her, especially from the beginning of the day, because she just stole the show!

–After the speeches, when Marissa & Louis were thanking everyone, Marissa revealed a little secret: Years ago, when Louis came to drop off a cow to her before they were dating, she told her mom as he drove away, “I’m going to marry that man someday.” Um, yeah, my heart exploded. I didn’t notice until I sat down to cull images that Louis was fighting back tears while Marissa was speaking, and I have a feeling it was during that moment.

Thanks guys–it was truly an honor to be apart of your day! I had such a great time, and hope to see you again soon <3
